Aaliyah Haughton became famous in 1994 when she released her debut album Age isn't just a number. Her album, which was released when she only had fifteen years old, went Gold. This collaboration, heavily influenced R. Kelly's music, brought her into the spotlight. In 1996 Jermaine and Timbaland released Aaliyah's second album One In A Million. It featured If You Girls Only Knew the single that was most popular. Aaliyah achieved international recognition for her R&B songs on this album. Aaliyah starred alongside the legendary martial artist Jet-Li in Romeo Must Die (2000) the action and romance film. Joel Silver, the film producer, saw her during an awards show and suggested her the part. In 2002, she was in the Anne Rice-based horror film Queen of the Damned. Then she was introduced to the Matrix by playing Zee in The Matrix Sequels having also been in The Matrix Reloaded in 2003 and The Matrix Revolutions in the same year. However, she has also used Aarti Magumdar for her stage name. Although she began with small TV and movie parts, her acting career began growing in popularity around the turn of the century. Apart from The Big Bang Theory her other most acclaimed works include Leverage (2012) Suits (2013) and Grey's Anatomy (2017). She has also been featured in advertisements for major brands like international car manufacturer Volvo. She continues her acting career in Los Angeles, where she lives with her husband and daughter.
